Dr. Marvelle Mootoo fulfilled her childhood dream when she graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 1990. She immediately began working at a small animal practice in Toronto and after 5 years was given the additional responsibility of hospital management for a further 4 years. After relocating to the Durham region in 1999, Dr. Mootoo was employed at another small animal practice in Ajax for 7 years before opening Harwood Pet Hospital with Dr. Andrea Chapin in 2005. Dr. Mootoo is a member of the Toronto Academy of Veterinary Medicine and served on the board for several years. She is also a member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the South Durham Veterinary Medical Association and keeps abreast of the latest developments in veterinary medicine through lectures and conferences locally and abroad. Dr. Mootoo is married with 2 children and in 2013 opened her home to an abandoned anxiety-prone cat named Witchie-Poo. She adopted Veronica her brown tabby as a kitten from the Durham Humane Society. In her spare time, Dr. Mootoo loves dancing, gardening and travelling.
